Educational summary of documented chemical interactions. Do NOT attempt any of these mixtures. If an accidental mix occurs, evacuate, ventilate, and call emergency services. Terms of use.
Chemical mixture
Can you mix Bleach (sodium hypochlorite) and Hydrogen peroxide?
⚠Dangerous. Violent decomposition, releases oxygen and heat.
oxidizer
Bleach (sodium hypochlorite)
CAS 7681-52-9
What happens
Hypochlorite and peroxide undergo a rapid redox reaction. In closed containers pressure can rupture the vessel.
Reaction products
- Oxygen (O2)
- Sodium chloride
- Water
If contact happens
Never store or mix. Dispose of each separately after neutralization.
